Ink and graphite pencil on paper
This work is a study of a photograph I took during a visit to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam during a solo trip in 2018. I found a great amount of inspiration in the way the crowd in the painting (Rembrandt’s “The Night Watch”) blends with the visitors present in the museum, taking in the painting. The walls between “life” and “art” are erased almost literally. In turn, anyone who looks at this drawing essentially becomes part of it. They take the place where I stood those years ago when I snapped the original photograph. And just like this, we all connect and meet in the eternal dance between observer and observed.
