I was sitting with a friend in a boat off the coast of the Shetland island of Unst far off the north of Scotland and noticed a flock of birds circling around.
They were arctic terns - one of the most graceful seabirds you can see - they look frail, but hold all the migration endurance records. They commute between the northern and southern hemispheres flying 10s of 1000s of miles a year.
As we watched them the terns started diving in the water and we saw the shoal of sand eels in the shallow sea around that they were feeding on.
