Purple acrylic ink is used to highlight the feeling of mental fog when taking the contraceptive pill, the lack of control over hormonal-based ill mental health, the physical issues experienced during and after coming off the pill, lack of information when administered. Free and accessible in Britain but has so many negative reactions.
“Summer 2020 I removed my coil and for the first time in over a decade was present in my body uninterrupted by any form of contraception. However, a new relationship comes with responsibilities and while I built up the courage to get another coil fitted I went back on the contraceptive pill for the first time in five years. What came with the pill was alien, unwanted hormones. I felt tainted, unsure of myself and my moods; what was the pill and what was me? The confusion of an unhappy adolescence returned and I wondered how different it might have been had I not been interrupted by the pill”
