About:
Echo is a heavily textured painting featuring figurative elements in an abstract landscape. The painting combined expressive painterly techniques with geometric forms. The cliffs are full of detail and hidden symbolism. The work is about that feeling you get when on the edge of a landmass, looking into space - looking into nothingness. The central figure in each piece is just out of reach from the other figures, and may as well be at the edge of the world. The series was inspired by a poem called ‘Giant at the end of the world’, the local landscape, and reflecting on living with depression.
